The biggest companies spend more money on Reverse Engineering than New Ideas.
This is perfectly legitimate, but if your not BIG and you have A BIG idea you are more likely going to get Squashed as you do not have the Logistics to stay ahead. So what other considerations I had to make in my Decisions 1 Should I just Go to South America and go sailing every afternoon and so not even try. 2 Any Project would need to bring in very large revenue and with minimum Logistics Therefore it would have to be PURE SOFTWARE with no third party requirements The most difficult project as risk factors for development are massive. 3 It would then have to be Copyrightable not just the program but the Design as well.

but it was NOT Copyrightable according to American Law As it was classed as a CONCEPT So Microsoft where able make Windows 3.1 and the Rest is History SAP on the other hand where able to protect their ideas, Which where basically the same system as IBM had at the time But it WORKED and the IBM system did not. SAP was a Database program which therefore could be copyrighted for the whole design AS IT WORKED IT WAS THEREFORE THE BEST DESIGN Consequently SAP grew from a 3 man Company of ex IBM personal To 1000 s of employees today and all the many support companies all paying TAX to build More German Hospitals and Welfare. ALL BECAUSE THEIR IDEAS AND DESIGN WAS COPYWRITABLE 4 There are of course Software Patents, and of course there are not As the USA says YES and Europe says NO. My own view is NO it is the design which should be protected As master code can already be protected both by compiling and obfuscation, Therefore a mathematical algorithm cannot be owned.
